Bostik Fabric Glue 20ml - Clear Flexible Permanent, Washable, Heat-Resistant Craft Adhesive for Clothing Repairs, Hems, Badges & Soft Furnishings
Clear Flexible Fabric Glue
A versatile, water-based fabric adhesive designed for clothing repairs, craft projects, and soft furnishings. It forms a strong, long-lasting, flexible bond on most porous fabrics and dries clear in thin films for a neat, professional finish. Once fully cured, the bond is machine washable, can be tumble dried, and is safe to iron.
Key Features
- Permanent, flexible bond for clothing and crafts
- Water-based, low odour formula
- Dries clear in thin applications
- Machine washable and tumble-dry compatible after full cure
- Heat resistant—safe to iron over the bonded area
- Easy squeeze application; cleans up with warm soapy water while wet
Ideal Uses
- Hems, trouser turn-ups, and pocket repairs
- Attaching cloth labels, badges, and patches
- Securing frayed lace ends and trims
- Curtain hems and decorative soft furnishing accents
- General fabric repairs on cotton, denim, linen, felt, leather and similar porous textiles
Directions
- Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust or grease. At least one surface must be porous.
- Test first: Trial on an off-cut or hidden area, especially with light or open-weave fabrics.
- Apply: Spread a thin, even layer to the non-visible side or back of the fabric. Join parts and press for several seconds.
- Initial handling: Light handling is typically possible after about 1 minute; avoid stressing the bond.
- Optional set boost: For improved bonding, gently iron-press ~5 minutes after gluing (use a pressing cloth).
- Full cure: Reaches full effective strength after 24 hours. After curing, the item may be machine washed, tumble dried, and ironed.
Clean-Up
- While wet: Wipe away with warm, soapy water; repeat if needed, rinse and dry.
- When dry on smooth, non-porous surfaces: Gently rub off or use warm, soapy water.
- When dry on fabrics: Difficult to remove—prevent excess and work carefully.
Compatibility & Notes
- Best on porous textiles: cotton, denim, linen, felt, leather, and similar materials.
- Not suitable for non-porous materials or 100% nylon/polyester fabrics.
- Avoid heavy application or excessive pressure on light or open-weave fabrics to minimise show-through or darkening.
